High school football outlook 2011: Lee

LEE REBELS

  • Head coach: Tom Siver (first year)
  • Assistants: Kevin Clemens (offensive coordinator/offensive/defensive lines), Eddie Shannon (quarterbacks/defensive secondary), Daryl Dillard (running backs), Nathan Wrubel (tight ends/wide receivers), Mark Underwood (secondary), Chano Buenatao (linebackers), Ray Calcaterra (offensive/defensive lines)
  • Last year: 0-6 OK Silver, 0-9 overall
  • Starters back: (2 offense,
  • 2 defense) Senior tackle/center Devon Vigil, senior linebacker/fullback Mikkel Norman
  • Key departures: There were only 17 players left from 42 to start the season and nine graduated. It is essentially a brand-new team Lee is fielding.
  • Key 2010 statistics: Lee scored 12 points in each of its first three games, then was shut out three consecutive times.
  • Strengths: Lee has large junior and freshman classes that are considered “teachable” on the field, and the Rebels have learned quickly despite Siver having to teach the game from the ground up. The Rebels have learned the basics quickly.
  • Concerns: Keeping up numbers will be the strongest challenge. A new coaching staff has had to rebuild the program and instill a whole new mentality.
  • Coach speak: “When you look at it, it’s simple. We’re starting at zero. There is no pride to lose. There is stuff to gain. We haven’t won in 23 games. I won’t promise any wins, but I can promise we’re instilling a program and we’re instilling it the right way.” — Tom Siver
  • Player speak: “People have come out that haven’t played in a while, and even the ones that have played are getting a whole new side of things. They’ve just been working hard. The defensive line has gotten better, running everything, doing one-on-one blocking ... we just keep going. Honestly, I still feel the need to compete with bigger schools and we can pull off some wins.” — Devon Vigil
  • Overview: Siver has his work cut out for him, and he knows it. Endless enthusiasm and positive words don’t necessarily translate into victories. Given what Siver has discovered with the current Rebels squad, it’s hard to believe Lee won’t score more than 56 points (last year’s total), and there may even be two or three victories in the cards.
  • Circle this date: Friday against St. Joseph Michigan Lutheran. The new-look Rebels debut this week against a squad coming off a Division 8 playoff appearance.
  • Fast fact: Lee has not won since a 14-6 victory against Martin on Aug. 29, 2008. The Rebels lost to Sterling Heights Parkway Christian the following week, but Sterling Heights later had to forfeit its victory.
  • Stadium: Lee Athletic Complex, 1824 Godfrey Ave., Wyoming

Instructions for APEX Remote:

Remember, the site is http://www.apexremote.com/

1.  First thing you have to do when it comes up is to make sure your Internet Explorer(APEX only works on Internet Explorer, not Firefox or Safari or anything else) allows pop-ups on your computer.  If it doesn't, click on it to let it allow pop-ups on apexremote.

2.  Type in your school code, username, and password first.  If you still don't know it, e-mail me privately for them.

3.  Once your in the site, the first place you need to navigate to is the home page.  You need to go to where it says "folders.exe" and click on it.  Run the program.  You only have to do this once EVER.  This sets up your file folders.

4.  Once that's done, go to "Games".  Click on a game you'd like to see.

5.  Once you click on it, a page will come up on the right side.  Click on "Download This Video".

6.  When you do that, a blue link will appear.  Right click on it.

7.  From there, choose the "Save Target As" option.

8.  It'll bring up your folders.  Find your C: drive

9.  When you do, find the "Football" folder and click on it.

10. After that, the "Games" folder will appear, and click on it.

11. Once that's done, the "Online" folder will appear and click on it.

12. It should be empty the first time you try this.  That's ok.  Once you see it, click "Save" at the bottom of the box.  This will start the download of the video.  It should take about 15 minutes at the most to upload.

13. NOTE:  The first time you upload a video, you have to go through steps 4-13.  After that, when you want to download a new film, you should only have to do steps 4-7 because it SHOULD automatically have the ONLINE folder open after you choose "Save Target As".

14. Once the film is downloaded, go back to "Games" and click on the video you downloaded.  On the right hand side a button should appear that says, "Go To Editor".  Click on it to watch your film.

15:  NOTE:  If you choose "Go To Editor" and you haven't downloaded your film, only the play data will appear.  The film box will be blank.
